Best Webcams for Twitch Streaming

We’ve talked about tools, we’ve talked about hardware, but we have not talked too much about the actual equipment you need, so here is our guide to the best webcams for streamers.

A webcam is important because it allows viewers to see you. Your facial expressions, your body language and your emotions are all important in letting a viewer enjoy what is going on during your stream.

You do not need a webcam to stream, nor do you need one to become a big streamer (Lirik proves this), but it helps you to stand out from others by showing more of who you are and your personality.

To summarise, this is what we recommend:

  • Logitech C920
  • Razer Kiyo
  • Logitech Brio Gaming Webcam 4K
  • Logitech C615
  • Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 Review
  • TeckNet C016
  • AUSDOM 1080P HD Webcam Camera
  • An actual camera or DSLR

Are you looking to get into streaming? Check out our beginner guides for Twitch streaming:

Logitech C920

The most popular webcam for Twitch, the Logitech C920 is a good middle ground between high quality and good value. The camera is high quality with great auto-focus. It also comes with a built-in microphone (which isn’t brilliant) but worth considering if you are on a budget.

This webcam is the one I use personally and I can only speak highly of it!

You can buy it on Amazon (USA) and Amazon (UK).

Razer Kiyo

Lighting and a camera built in, the Razer Kiyo is a brilliant webcam for those in particular streaming situations. While the camera quality is a step down compared to some of the Logitech devices, it’s 60FPS and lighting ring will suit some streamers with smaller setups!

You can buy it at Razer, Amazon (USA) and Amazon (UK).

Logitech Brio Gaming Webcam 4K

Do you need a 4k webcam? Probably not. But if you’ve got money to spend, you want your stream to be of the highest quality and you don’t want the hassle of a DSLR then it’s one to consider.

You can buy it on Amazon (USA) and Amazon (UK).

Logitech C615

The cheaper version of the Logitech C920 mentioned above, the C615 is a great budget webcam for streamers on a budget.

(Hey, most of the time you don’t even need a webcam when streaming, so while you are smaller, start off with a budget device!)

You can buy it on Amazon (USA) and Amazon (UK).

Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000

Microsoft products are not typically known as high-quality unless you are willing to spend a lot for business/corporate level products. However, ignoring everything I just said, the LifeCam HD-3000 is a decent budget webcam at a decent price!

You can buy it on Amazon (USA) and Amazon (UK).

TeckNet C016

An unknown brand and the cheapest on our list, the TeckNet C016 is a budget webcam that’ll struggle to reach 720HD quality. However for the price it is, you are getting a decent webcam with a basic microphone built in. If you don’t need premium quality visuals, then it gives you something to start with!

I’d personally recommend you start with a higher quality device, but if budget is a serious consideration then the C016 webcam will suit you.

You can buy it on Amazon (USA) and Amazon (UK).

AUSDOM 1080P HD Webcam Camera

Looking more like a mini camcorder, the AUSDOM 1080p is one of the best 1080p budget devices you can buy! It has great versatility as it can be easily hooked up to your monitor or placed on your desk.

You can buy it on Amazon (USA) and Amazon (UK).

Bonus round — An actual camera or DSLR

Yes, it is possible to use a DSLR when Twitch streaming. While I’ve not done this personally there are loads of great guides to doing so:How to Use DSLR Camera as a Webcam | Sparkosoft
